What do I get?
The bootcamp is built around the certification exam and the assignment. Hands-on exercises, practice questions, tips, tricks, and in-depth lectures from a very experienced Java instructor guide you toward making a successful assignment. The training will be conducted in English and takes six days, Monday-Saturday. Prepare for some hard work and long days. Optionally, you can stay in a hotel close to the training venue.
Who is the instructor?
The instructor will be Dr. Luc Duponcheel. After obtaining his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Brussels, Luc Duponcheel became one of Sun's most experienced Java instructors. Luc is closely involved in making and reviewing Java certification exams.
The bootcamp consists of four parts:
Part I: General knowledge re architectures for enterprise Java applications using the Java Platform, EE techn.
Part II: Prepares students for the CEA exam.
Part III: Consists of taking the exam.
Part IV: Work on the CEA assignment and prepare for the Certified Enterprise Architect essay.

How to proceed if I am interested?
Fill out the registration form and we will contact you. You do not pay now. Payment is by invoice to your (company) address. Cost for the program is CHF 5'800.-- excl. VAT as Early Bird price until 22.08.2010 and thereafter CHF 6'450.--excl. VAT. The Bootcamp includes the full architect training course materials, practice questions, the complete certification exam with assignment, as well as a free retake, if needed.

Aufgrund meiner Projektvergangenheit war ich mir zu beginn nicht ganz im klaren, ob das Bootcamp das richtige für eine Vorbereitung der SCEA ist. Entschloss mich aber dennoch dazu, da man eine Woche, weg vom Projekt ist und sich nur auf die SCEA konzentrieren kann. Und es hat sich gelohnt. Der fachlich sehr kompetente Dozent überzeugte. Es entstanden interessante Diskussionen so dass man auch über den SCEA-Stoff hinaus profitieren konnte. Das Exam #1 kann man sicherlich auch ohne Bootcamb absolvieren, die vorangegangene Diskussionen und Prep Exam, halfen aber einem sich gut auf das Examen vorzubereiten. Für Neulinge im Enterprise Umfeld reicht die Vorbereitung aber nicht. Hingegen die Einführungen und Abgrenzungen des zu erstellenden Projektes waren sehr hilfreich und vereinfachte den Einstieg.
Ich kann das Bootcamp nur empfehlen.

Das Training hat mir super gefallen. Das beste daran war sicherlich der brilliante Dozent Luc. Die Qualität dieses sehr anspruchsvollen Kurses hängt hauptsächlich vom Dozenten ab. Die Kursmaterialien waren nützlich, aber die Erklärungen von Luc haben mir sehr viel mehr geholfen. Negativ ist mir höchstens die Qualität der Beispielprüfungen aufgefallen.
Ich würde den Kurs auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Ich fühle mich gut vorbereitet, mein Assignment selbständig zu beenden. Ausserdem hat es mich motiviert, verschiedene Wissenslücken schliessen zu wollen.
